The Bognor Regis Music Club was first established in 1977 as the Regis Music and Concert Club to promote vocal and instrumental chamber music to Bognor and the surrounding areas.
The inaugural concert was held on 22nd January 1978. Twenty-two years later, the name was changed to Bognor Regis Music Club. While primarily a membership club, the venue is host to concerts and exhibitions that are open to the pubic throughout the year.
Derek Debuse served as chairman of the club for thirty-two years from its inception; he often attended concerts at London venues such as Wigmore Hall where he would go backstage afterwards and sign up artists to appear at the club.
Due to health reasons, Derek stepped down at the AGM in September 2011 and handed the baton to the late Chris Coote, who chaired the club for nine years.
Although club events had discontinued during the pandemic in 2020 (and the club had lost some committee members during that period), the club restarted under the chairmanship of Ian Clark, who had previously performed with Chris for the club (a tribute concert to Chris entitled "Our Friend Chris" in aid of charity was hosted by Chichester Baptist Church in July 2023, and chaperoned by Ian).
Past performers have included locally and internationally acclaimed artists including Tasmin Little, Emma Johnson, Mark Padmore, Piers Lane, Clifford Benson, Jack Brymer, Nicholas Daniel, Paul Lewis, Los Ladrones, Margaret Fingerhut, Valentina Seferinova, and (as seen on Channel 5's "Extraordinary People") Derek Paravicini.
Many young artists and instrumentalists who were invited to be part of previous programmes have gone on to perform in a professional capacity.
Bognor Regis Music Club are a proud member of Making Music, the National Federation of Music Societies.
Professional recitals hosted by the club are open to the public but for a small annual fee, members receive discounted entry to performances.

All welcome! We don't just provide performing opportunities to seasoned professionals; we invite new members to showcase their own talent for the rest of the club in informal members' evenings where we have fun and celebrate all musical genres and backgrounds.
